List three jobs you’d consider pursuing if money didn’t matter.
Money is rarely a factor. I’m not independently wealthy, but I’ve been known to be the master of living well on a shoestring. I’ll add the caveat that up until a few years ago, I’ve had no major health issues. Now that “old age” is creeping in, I’m glad I have a full-time job and good health insurance. A more realistic prompt, for the US anyway, would be “If health insurance didn’t matter…” Don’t get me started.
Anyway… if TIME wasn’t a factor, I’d go back to school for a psychology degree. and get a job with the FBI. I always thought I’d make a good behavioral analysis. I’m not as good-looking as all those people on Criminal Minds. Hopefully, that’s not a requirement.
If insurance wasn’t a factor, I’d devote much of the day to my musical pursuits. I’d love to devote equal time to my double bass and electric bass. I’d be in a band for each, maybe even get a symphony gig if I got better on my upright. I’ve only been playing it for a year, so I have a long way to go. Although I don’t say it as emphatically as I used to, bowing is still pretty hard.
I guess writing or blogging would be my third pick. There are people out there who insist I can make six figures, and only work two hours a week. All I have to do is take their course, and they’ll show me how. I could do that now, I suppose. I wouldn’t even have to give up my coveted insurance. I think I’ll mull that one over. My guess is, there is more money in showing people how to do things than actually doing those things.
Fortunately, I like what I do. My job gives me enough free time to explore my music and writing interests. If I live long enough to retire, I’ll be able to live immersively in my creative endeavors. For now, I’m a weekend warrior, and I’m OK with that.
