I’m back from church. I go about every other week when they schedule me to run AV. I’m the “camera-master.” I’m good at framing shots and making smooth transitions between the cameras. The other people have to use presets, but I have a knack for freehanding it. Silly superpower, I know. 😉
I enjoy doing it because we have a lot of older people in the congregation who have a hard time getting out of the house. This allows them to participate. I guess that’s the one good thing that came out of the pandemic. I don’t know if they would have thought about Zoom services if they weren’t forced to.
I sometimes wonder why I go to church. I have a rather tenuous grip on my faith. I believe in the teachings of Jesus – especially the part about forgiveness. I don’t know about all that eternal life stuff. Sometimes, I think it’s just stories we tell ourselves to feel better about the unknown finality that is death.
Ultimately, I enjoy being part of a community. There is strength in numbers. I have made many friends and connections through church. When I needed help, there were plenty of people happy to lend a hand. Likewise, I try to return the favor when I can.
Have a happy week, everyone!
