Damn, I’m tired.
I spent the lion’s share of yesterday building two bookcases for the hubs. We have an arrangement. I build, he breaks. I mentioned in an earlier post that I’m good at building furniture, and I wasn’t lying. I’ve built a lot of stuff in my day. I can often look at the pieces and figure it out sans instructions. 99% of the time, looking at them confuses me more.
Anyway, the small bookcase came together in about an hour. The big bookcase took the rest of the damn day. We were planning to go downtown for the tree lightning ceremony that evening, but we were finishing up about the time it was going to start. We cleaned up and went downtown for dinner instead. Every place that served booze was packed, including our favorite watering hole – Sliders. We ended up at Rams Horn. No booze here, but they have a hot meatloaf sandwich that is to die for.
This morning, I was sore as hell. I realized that I spent most of yesterday getting up and down, squatting and positioning myself in weird configurations. It seems like this wouldn’t have bothered me a few years ago, but I’m also not the gym rat I used to be.
The rest of the day went well. I went to church to run AV. We took the dog on a nice long walk because Michigan is having a “heat wave.” It was 45°F. I made chicken swarma for dinner. It came out really well. Even after brushing my teeth, I’m still tasting garlic.
So I am tired, but able to enjoy the fruits of my labor. The bookcases look really nice, and the house feels less cluttered now that more things have a “home.”
