Sunday selfie ~ December 15, 2024

It’s been a busy weekend.

Friday night, hubs and I went out to see Wisher. I mention them on an occasion. I know the lead singer, Kayleigh. She cleans my house every other week, but I’ve also been friends with her mom for several decades. Kayleigh is very talented,  and I admire her drive. I wish I had that kind of gumption when I was her age.

Anyway, they are fantastic. Besides Kayleigh’s pipes, their lead guitarist,  Emily, shreds like a pro. She’s not “good for a girl.” She’s flat outright a great guitarist.  If you are into heavy prog like Dream Theater and Nightwish – check them out. They have a few songs on Spotify.  My favorite is Krokotta, which is inspired by the video game Assassin’s Creed.

I spent the better part of Saturday putting up the tree. Can I just say that I’m getting really sick of people asking me if “I’m ready for the holidays.” Christmas is not a big ordeal for me and the hubs. We don’t have kids, and most of my family is deceased. We will visit his folks. I’ll likely go to midnight mass, and I may or may not hang out with my sister. She actually loathes Christmas more than I do, and she goes to church.

I think, like me, she finds the rampant consumerism a bit sickening.  Hubs and I will exchange cards and a few small token gifts. There is no need to buy each other extravagant gifts. We have everything we need.

There’s nothing of importance going on today. It’s my week off for running AV at the church, so we slept in for as much as the animals will allow us. We also took a trip to our pet store. We have yet to leave that place without spending at least $100. That’s what you get for having pets with allergies. 😜

I still need to make protein balls for the hubs. If I get enough gumption, I’ll put up my tiny tree in the TV room. I’ve had this silly little tree since I lived  in FLA. My house wasn’t very big, so I bought a little tabletop tree. I can take a standard string of lights, wrap it around twice, and  still have enough to pool the remaining lights around the base of the tree. I use a little cotton mantle tree skirt around the bottom. The lights glow through it nicely. I have a few tiny ornaments, but the bulk of the tree decorations are some old dangling earrings.  Since a lot of my earrings are skull, skeleton, and pagan-themed, it makes for a very interesting little tree.

The cats will knock it down at least three times by Christmas day. 😜

Have a great week, y’all! Hope you are ready for Christmas,  LOL!
