Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?
In my caffeine-starved brain, I struggle to decide whether this prompt is super-profound or super dumb. Given the source – likely the latter.
Since everyone is different, and we all have millions of “aspects,” that’s a lot of ground to cover.
I’ll go ahead and highlight an aspect that I admire, and also alludes me. I’m not even sure what you call it.
It’s that quality that makes another feel like they are the only person in the room. I’ve only met this type of person once or twice in my life. You feel good when you are around them. They make you feel like what you say has value. You find that you open up a bit more than you do with other people.
You’d say – oh, that’s being a good listener. I think it’s something beyond that. I am a good listener. I learned long ago to let people talk. I’m a big fan of Dale Carnegie. I learned the importance of letting people talk about themselves.
This type of person I speak of has a better grasp of what you are really saying. They ask probing (but not creepy) questions. No matter what you say, they seem to understand on some level, and there’s no judgment. It almost sounds like a therapist. Unfortunately, therapists are rarely that good. At least, that has been my experience.
Robin Williams seemed to be exactly that kind of person. Of course, I didn’t know him. I can only work off of other people’s experiences and interviews. Maybe I’m completely delusional, or he was really THAT good of an actor. I don’t think so. He seemed like a genuinely kind man who cared about people (and gorillas, too!). He had an arua about him.
I like to think that I care about people, but some (ok, probably more than some) people frustrate me. Patience is not my forte. I know damn well I don’t have an “aura,” at least not that one. 😜 The good thing is, I’m honest about my weaknesses, and I do my best to catch myself and show kindness. It’s is never a bad thing to improve yourself, even if you never reach that pinnacle.
I guess it’s all for the better. I’m sure I have an aspect that Robin wished he had.
That is kind of the way life works.
