Female-fronted prog metal

What was the last live performance you saw?

If you like progressive rock, you should check out Wisher. That’s the last live performance I saw. It was in December at the Diamondback Music Hall in Van Buren Twp, Michigan.

Wisher is an up and coming prog metal band out of Detroit. They are really great. Someone recently said, If Paramore and Dio had a baby, and Avenged Sevenfold and Judas Priest had a baby – and those babies had babies… You’d get Wisher.

The cool thing about Wisher is that it’s fronted by a phenomenal female singer, Kayleigh. She’s got a set of pipes on her! She can go from a low growl to a high beautiful clear note in a single breath. Speaking of speed, their lead guitarist (also female) – Emily, SHREDS!! Seriously, she’s great. When hubs and I went to see them, he saw her on stage and figured she’d “just be playing rhythm.” I watched his jaw drop when she broke into her first solo.

The rest of the band members are dudes. They are good, too. 😉

Check out their latest video. You won’t be disappointed!

I just want to show a little love to undiscovered bands. Let’s face it, you have to take out a small loan to see a major act nowadays. Tickets are well over $100 and then there’s the “convenience fees,” parking, and concessions. I can’t speak for all cities, but where I live, there are a many great undiscovered bands. Go check them out! They would love your support!
