Do lazy days make you feel rested or unproductive?
I look at it this way…
I’ve been working my ass off for the better part of my adult life. An unproductive, lazy day is a rare treat. A restful, restorative lazy day – also a rare treat. I savor them both equally.
I would start feeling a little guilty, though, if I had multiple lazy days in a row. Then, all of a sudden, it’s no longer a rare treat. The novelty wears off. The feeling of your favorite, fuzzy comforter, and a hot cup of tea loses its luster.
I can’t think of the last time I had multiple lazy days in a row, except for when I had a grippy-sock holiday a few years back after getting sepsis from passing a kidney stone. The novelty wears off really quick when you’re cathetered and sharing a room with a woman that snores like all the Three Stooges at once. I really shouldn’t count it because it wasn’t by choice.
I guess I’m just a restless person. I like doing things.
At the end of the day, a day is a day. Well-rested or unproductive, it matters not. We have a limited amount of them, so make them all count.
