All and nothing

Written for Kevin’s No Theme Thursday 11.14.24

A river flows through

The space of impermanence

Where being-time turns

The heart of the Dharma wheel

A pink lotus blooms anew

Note: I’ve just recently been introduced to the “Tanka.” It’s a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Tanka literally translates to “short poem.” It’s basically a haiku on steroids. It retains the “5-7-5” of the haiku but adds two more lines of seven syllables after it. 31 syllables total. Like the haiku, the lines are not supposed to rhyme. The poem should focus on imagery and metaphor to capture a moment or an emotion.
