Here’s my submission for #TankaTuedsay Poetry Challenge #17. This particular structure is called a Rensaku.
Relationships
Connecting to all
Twisting roots run underground
Flowers push sunward
Rivers flow to sea
Veins of the earth holding life
To give and receive
Tempest winds blow strong
Swirl seeds o’er the grassy plains
Feeding all creatures
Golden orb hanging
Dapple light through leaves softly
Earth spins on its way

In a nutshell, a rensaku is a tanka, haiku, or senryu series. This particular challenge has us focus on the topic of relationships. I decided to use haikus to explore the symbiotic relationship of the four elements – earth, wind, fire, and water – and how they all work together to bring forth and nurture life.
