Life is a dark ride

Wait, you don’t what??

What personality trait in people raises a red flag with you?

Why, there is a smorgasbord to choose from! People with five kids from six different partners, folks that will spend $1000+ on a pair of sneakers, but can’t pay their rent, being mean to the wait staff. I could spend all day on this.

But there is one thing that always makes me run…

“I don’t read.”

I actually had one gentleman tell me that.

“What, like you can’t read?”

“No, I just think it’s dull.”

“Umm…”

Turns out, he was dull. He’d rather watch movies or TV and let everything get spoon-fed to him. He possessed little in the way of imagination or critical thinking. When he had a problem (which was, like, ALL THE TIME), he struggled to come up with a solution and found it easier to blame others.

I feel that not reading can take you on a downward spiral, almost the way some drugs can. Drugs can cause atrophy to the brain, and not exercising it does something similar. The big problem is, it’s not illegal to not read.

Maybe it should be. 😂

    The gentleman who doesn’t read sounds like a prime candidate for a person who would, when asked about “what the difference is between ignorance and apathy?” simply reply, “Don’t know, don’t care!”. We are a generation of consumers who are taking consumerism to the next level and are creating materialistic ideas on the way, materialism is being born out of consumerism. We buy things that we don’t need, with money we don’t have, to impress people who we don’t actually like. If you don’t know what you want, then you end up with a lot of what you don’t.
