It’s all about the small things

What’s a moment when a stranger completely restored your faith in people?

I won’t say that this situation was some sort of monumental event. There have likely been other times where people have stepped up, but this happened recently, so it is fresh in my mind.

Of it didn’t happen, I would have lived, but it would have been a big PITA.

I work mostly from home, but once a week or so, I go to the office to get a change of scenery. It also forces me to wear my big girl clothes 😂

One morning,  I walk into the building g and head for the stairs. About the same time, I’m fishing through my purse for my ID card. I need it to scan so the door will open

To my horror, the card is nowhere to be found. I know I had it! I remember checking before I left.

Sighing heavily,  I walk back to the parking lot to retrace my steps. As I approach the lobby, and there is an older gentleman holding a card. He looks at the card, looks at me, looks at the card again… It has my photo on it so I am suddenly hopeful.

He says my name, kind of in the form of a question.

Yes!

He hands me my card and I thank him profusely.

I would have bought him a beer if I could.

So was it a major event.

No.

Did it mean a lot to me?

Absolutely, and thats all that matters. I was not able to buy him his choice of beverage, but I hope that karma smiles upon him as he made my day a lot easier.
